We continue to paint the change

On February 21, 22 and 23, 2023, the training meeting of the Paint the Change project took place in Italy.

These sessions were held at the facilities of the project leader Gruppo Phoenix with the presence of the Spanish partners Red Sanamente.

Technical sessions were held to monitor the project, analyze the current situation of the project and the forecasts and tasks for the coming months.

These sessions were combined with artistic and practical workshops with professionals and users from Spain and Italy.

The Turkish delegation was unable to attend due to the great earthquake that devastated the country, but made its online connection for the exhibition of their work and meetings.

The Italian delegation showed us some of their work on sculpture and some of their wonderful pieces created in their workshops and that were used in the last exhibition held in Italy.

We also held a workshop on Paper Mache to introduce us to this technique and to learn about the materials used and the proper way to use them.

On the other hand, the Spanish delegation put into practice two didactic activities around Painting where all the assistants made two works of art. An exercise around the emotions faced and another one based on a self-portrait with colors and words.

The members discussed the benefits that art brings to improve people’s mental health and how it affects and improves our daily lives. The capacity of art to transform society and to carry out social inclusion work in the community was also highlighted.

We would also like to highlight the warm welcome of the Italian delegation and their good manners and treatment as hosts who did not hesitate to bring us closer to the culture of the area, to visit different artists, to discover beautiful places and, of course, to enjoy the wonderful gastronomy that Italy has to offer.
